Confined Space Rescue Level 2

Course Overview

Confined space rescue level 2 will meet all the NFPA and Worksafe requirements as identified by NFPA chapter 7 “Confined Space Rescue Operations”. This course is designed to be combined with the Rescue Canada Rope Rescue Level 2 (either embankment or high angle).

Course Details

Confined space rescue level 2 will require a prerequisite of “Rope Rescue Level 2” and complete the online confined space rescue awareness course. A combined Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue Level 2 course is an option for organizations that do not have the prerequisites.

On completion, the participant will be able to:

  • Perform size up, establish command, identify and control hazards
  • Conduct atmospheric monitoring inside and outside of the space
  • Establish ventilation and determine effectiveness

Perform vertical and horizontal entry to complete rescues where:

  • Patient can be seen from outside of space
  • The entry is large enough to easily enter wearing SCBA
  • The space is large enough for two rescuers plus patient
  • Internal configuration is clear of obstructions so that the rescue retrieval line cannot become entangled
