Confined Space Rescue Level 3

Course Overview

Confined Space Rescue Level 3 meets all NFPA and WorkSafe requirements for “Confined Space Rescue Technician.” This advanced level focuses on complex rescue operations and developing rescue team leaders with higher technical proficiency and strong pre‑planning skills. Technician‑level graduates may serve as organizational technical advisers. Prerequisites include Rope Rescue Level 2 (High Angle) and Confined Space Level 2. This is a four‑day course.

Course Details

Participants will have completed both rope rescue level 2 (high angle) in addition to confined space level 2 as a prerequisite to the confined space rescue level 3 course.

Course objectives will include:

  • Supervise and direct a team performing a confined space rescue
  • Develop rescue pre-plans
  • Perform high risk or complex rescue evolutions where:
    • The subject is not visible from the entry
    • The entry is too small for the rescuer to enter while wearing an SCBA
    • The space is too small for the patient plus 2 rescuers to easily fit
    • There are obstructions to navigate the patient around during evacuation
