Emily Poulin

In 2013, Emily relocated from Alberta to British Columbia, where she served as the Groundskeeper and Challenge Course Manager at a retreat and rental facility for ten years. In this role, she intentionally continued to build her personal leadership and also began teaching. In this role she continually demonstrated strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety.

During her time in BC, Emily joined Search and Rescue (SAR). Over the years, she has taken on multiple leadership roles within the organization, contributing not only operationally but also as a mentor and instructor. She is deeply passionate about developing others, particularly in guiding students from uncertainty to confidence — creating those pivotal “light bulb” moments when complex scenarios begin to be manageable.

Emily is known for her ability to teach progressively, building from simple concepts to complex problem-solving while fostering critical thinking and practical application. Her approach emphasizes preparedness, adaptability, and excellence in high-pressure environments.
