Larry Obst

Larry joined the Rescue Canada instructor team back in 1998. With over 40 years of experience as an instructor/instructor trainer and developing programs, he is a great asset to the company. Larry is a retired fire captain with 36 years of service with Prince George Fire Rescue. During his career, he spent 33 years developing programs, training instructors and coordinating programs in:

  • Swiftwater and Ice Rescue    
  • High Angle and Confined Space Rescue
  • Emergency Medical Care
  • Bariatric Extrication and Transport

He is the head of our rope rescue program, one of our instructor trainers, and is developing our fire service-specific programs. Larry takes lead roles in developing our Swiftwater Rescue, Ice Rescue, Water Bound Vehicles, Rope Rescue and Bariatric Evacuations programs.

When not instructing and developing rescue programs, Larry enjoys exercise and physical fitness, hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking and skiing.
